Over the years the JWC has done incredible things! Last year alone we successfully raised and distributed over $10,000! We are proud to be responsible for several local improvement projects and services including the recent installation of A.E.D. (Automatic External Defibrillator) devices now located in all of the public and private school in the area. We’ve provided funding and services to many local and national organizations including The Portage County Library, Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum, Stevens Point Fire Department, The Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Empty Bowls, Destiny Point, Portage County Youth Alliance, Hospice Care, American Cancer Society….The list of accomplishments goes on and on!

Community Service

Since its founding in 1939, the Stevens Point Junior Women’s Club (JWC) has contributed much in community service. In 1944, the Red Cross Mobile Blood Unit was brought to Stevens Point for the first time through effort of the Juniors. The Portage County Daycare Center for children with mental challenges was initiated and promoted by our club through fundraising and purchasing of their bus. The city band shell in Pfiffner Park was constructed through a community fund drive coordinated by our club. JWC has been involved in many other prominent community projects such as Lori Ann’s House for victims of domestic abuse, First Home for teenage mothers, Jaws of Life, YMCA, Achievement Center and the Humane Society to name a few.

Our greatest and longest running Community Improvement Project was Kiddie Kollege. Between 1964 and 2005, the club owned and operated this preschool.

Funding for these community projects is made possible through our highly successful annual fundraiser, Tinsel Trail Arts and Crafts Show, which is held annually on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
